The plastic arts group together a set of artistic disciplines dedicated to the beauty or to the expressiveness of lines, forms, colors, which aim at giving substance, aesthetic objects, representation and impression. We call visual arts the arts which produce objects perceived essentially by the eye of the spectator. The notion contains the traditional plastic arts, to which are added the photography, the video art and the computer graphics. Further to the artistic inheritance of the beginning of the 20th century, the visual arts took some distance with the systematic search of the beautiful. Les arts plastiques regroupent un ensemble de disciplines artistiques consacrées à la beauté ou à l’expressivité des lignes, des formes, des couleurs, qui visent à donner des corps, des objets, une représentation et une impression esthétiques. On appelle arts visuels les arts qui produisent des objets perçus essentiellement par l'œil du spectateur. La notion englobe les arts plastiques traditionnels, auxquels s'ajoutent la photographie, l'art vidéo et l'infographie. Suite à l’héritage artistique du début du 20ème siècle, les arts visuels ont pris de la distance avec la recherche systématique du beau.
